As of the 1st of May 2000, insurance companies offering civil liability for motor vehicles in Greece have established a system to indemnify their non-responsible insured clients involved in a car accident, thus relieving them of the need to turn against the insurance company that insures the driver who caused the accident.
This is an agreement between contracted Insurance Companies active in the area of civil liability for cars that intends to speed up indemnification procedures and simplify the settlement of material damage and bodily harm in case of an accident.
Under the Instant Payment System (IPS), in the event of a road accident and provided that the insurance companies involved have acceded to that system, the insurance company of the non-responsible driver can indemnify him or her on the account of the insurance company that covers the liability of the driver who caused the accident.
In the event of an accident, the first thing you must do is call your insurance company. You will find their phone number on your contract under “accident care.” You must provide all necessary information regarding the incident.
